Missing From Songwriters Hall of Fame (Updated 2017 Inductees)

The 2017 Songwriters Hall Inductees have been announced: Jay-Z, Peter Cetera/James Pankow/ Robert Lamm, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Max Martin & Berry Gordy (inducted last year, formally this year).

According to the Song Hall's website, voters are made up of "music industry professionals" and members of Performing Rights Organzations like BMI and ASCAP.

But, this article by Roger Friedman from 2015, fills in some of the questions I have about this Hall.  According to Friedman, the Song Hall once had an "unspoken" rule about no posthumous inductees.  Which would explain how George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix  and others have failed to get in by 2015.  But with the 2015 & 2016 inductions of Jerry Garcia, Willie Dixon, Bernard Edwards and Marvin Gaye, that stupid rule has been eliminated.

Take a look at the names below.  Most have at least been nominated.  None of these are in the Songwriters Hall of Fame as of 2017.

My Dad 9 Years Later (+ His Record Collection)

Besides passing along his love of sports, my Dad also passed along his love of music.  He had a small but eclectic vinyl/8-track collection.  I absorbed all of it. My interest in music was piqued. By 1974 at the age of 10, I had become hooked on AM Pop music. But even though he never knew it, my Dad helped propel my lifelong love affair with music.  For years, these were the only records I heard.

Later, as my record collection grew my Dad often looked in awe at the burgeoning shelves of CD's or vinyl.  One regret I have is not telling him how much his records played a part in my music tastes.

Below is a list, as I remember it, of his vinyl collection (and some 8-tracks).  I heard these records many times. Lots of Country and Pop vocalists.  Most are from the early 70's.  I've got some of these, but many are out of print and have never been released on CD or digitally (as of February 2017).
