Polka Grammy

The end of the Polka category by the Grammy's is not really a surprise, but I would like to think it's just another part of the downsizing of the music industry. Last year there were fewer than 20 album considered for nomination. That's not much, and frankly, no award category can continue with that little to go by. Polka is more for a live crowd than a recording anyway. I own a Polka compilation, but admit that it works better live.
Still, anytime a small genre like Polka gets eliminated from its one source of major recognition, the Grammy's, you have to feel bad for its major players.
